A month ago I got new hearing aids since my hearing was shot. Well anyway it is a major improvement but I swear there are 2 Mockingbirds that like to rest on the deck rail outside and sh!t so I have to clean it up. But that is not the bad part, I swear one of them birds has been referring to me as a "DAMN W.O.P.".

After my first hearing aid I was going on and on bragging about how good it was.?ÿ?ÿA buddy asked me, "What kind is it?"

I looked at my watch and told him it was half past two.?ÿ

If I asked "buddy" of mine the time and he called me a "half assed Jew" I certianly would not consider him a friend.?ÿ ??ÿ

The VA paid for them since my hearing loss was determined to be a result of jet aircraft noise.

They are PHONAK behind the ear style aids. As with all hearing aids it magnifies all sound so things will sound "different", kinda tinny sounding.

They are Bluetooth also and it syncs with the TV so I hear the TV through them.

You were probably too close to its nest containing eggs or hatchlings.?ÿ ??ÿ

Be glad the VA picked up the tab. I've had my behind-the-ear Phonaks (non-bluetooth) for 5 years now, paid $4800. I have a congenital hearing loss in my left ear, so the programming is different in each device. Takes some getting used to, but they've made a big difference. Most people don't notice I'm wearing them.

Behind the ear should be easier for them to build and more rugged than the tiny ones.?ÿ I don't understand why the companies make such a big deal out of low profile hearing aids.?ÿ People wear glasses.?ÿ People use canes, prosthetic limbs, and have mechanical body parts installed.?ÿ The only thing the ads try to attach stigma for is hearing aids.?ÿ Bah!

I recently went to the optometrist for a?ÿnew prescription for my eyeglasses.?ÿ Afterwards I was browsing their (highly overpriced) selection of new eye ware.?ÿ?ÿA polite?ÿyoung lady (definitely of Asian extraction) was trying to help me pick out some frames for?ÿmy bifocals.?ÿ She was writing everything down?ÿand I declined the "no lines" option for my bifocals.

She scrunched up he face and said "You no want lines" as she shook her head no, "lines no make you look good". I felt like a child that was being prompted by their mother while ordering a Coke instead of milk at a McDonalds.

"I no care about lines," I told her in my best SE Asian Pidgin English, "I so pretty lines no matter".?ÿ?ÿ My wife jabbed me in the ribs.?ÿ

I didn't?ÿget the no lines option....

Well when you get to the point where you can hear a bloody thing you will get over your hangup and stick them in your ears and be glad you did.

It is my plan to get 2 new hips and if I'm not careful 2 new knees.

Your wife actually allows you to speak at the optometrist or the Drs. Office? Cripes mine already has my reading glasses picked out in her mind before we even get there and if I start to bitch I get ƒ??THE LOOKƒ?. I just gave up years ago. In June 2019 we will be married (imprisoned) for 50 years. Thanks to whoever invented beer and a special thanks to Mother Nature for inventing weed.?ÿ ??ÿ

I stopped using?ÿmy hearing aid about the time?ÿAdopted File was placed with us for kinship care- something about a 2 -1/2 yo monkey glomming on your head while you trying to do virtually anything made it "inconvenient"- coincidentally, Yesterday-?ÿ I started wearing it again at the gentle suggestion of Mrs. File. - didn't take long to get used to it. It helps in some situations- it's a VA supplied PHONAK- spend a few years in the turret sending hi velocity FU's down range and?ÿtakes it's toll.....

Sabot- when you care enough to send the very best.....

Sounds like you and I have the same kind for similar reasons, you being a turret gunner and me being exposed to jet blast for years.

One good thing about hearing aids is you can ignore people and they think you just can't hear them.
