I purchased a IP, PTZ outdoor camera last January from China (where everything else comes from). Just now tried to power it up with no success. It is out of warranty (whatever that is) so I have no recourse to recoup any financial loss.

Here is what the beast looks like...

My thought(s) were to dissect the initial power plug wire and splice another adapter into it and retry the power. If unsuccessful I plan on doing the same thing to the main input wire. When that does not work I will beat it with a ball peen hammer until I injure myself.

Any suggestions are welcome! B-)

Do you have a POE switch and does it say that it can work on one? It sure looks like that is the design.

I assume (with those ramifications) you used the original power supply or confirmed you are using one with the proper voltage.

You might try plugging in the power and Ethernet cable for initial power up attempt.

Nope, it's not POE, wish it was.

The first thing I notice: that work space is way to neat and clean; I see you have WD-40; where's the duck tape?

I would suggest a 2lb sledge; the ball peen will work, if that's all you have available. But the sledge will get the job done quicker; with less swings; more efficient that way and you might be able to injure yourself sooner and a little worse.

Sorry I couldn't provide more detailed suggestions; I'm not an electronic's geek.

But I do want you to have a great weekend; I know I will!! B-)

Aloha, I would take few things a part to see if there are any fuses. In Asia the power cords are coded with different colors. Brown is hot and blue is neutral! Good luck Bill!

The last gadget came with a b/w wiring diagram in chinese.
Had to get a chinese friend to translate to english the color of wire and I was good to go and it worked

"I see you have WD-40; where's the duck tape?"

SWMBO has confiscated ALL duct, duck or anything else resembling tape as well as the "stud finder" aka hammer.
