It may have been Calvin & Hobbes. It may have been several other comic strips. Somewhere in my foggy memory exists panels where the main character would dress himself up in bizarre attire and announce to the world that he was " insert grand title here". Something much more powerful than Grand Poobah of the Water Buffaloes. Which strip am I remembering?

This came to mind as soon as I learned at least 2.9 million citizens are thrilled today to learn that the US State Department has a vacancy in the office known as Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom.

Treading on thin ice, but..

Read a comment online yesterday that said "Given his marital history, shouldn't he have left us for a younger, prettier country by now?"

It wasn't Calvin and Hobbes Calvin as "Dictator for Life" was it? He was founder and president of the club G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy Girls)

This is only distantly connected to our current Commander in Chief who officially submits a name for nomination to this ambassadorship. It's the new home address for the nominee that has so many people tickled pink.

You got me, but I have to admit, I was well past 30 before it occurred to me that my local newspaper only carried a select few comics, and not every one that was available.

What happened is the governor of Kansas is leaving to become The Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom. Who knew there was such a lofty title within the US State Department? At least 2.09 million Kansans (of the 2.0907 million reported in the 2010 census) began cheering with the announcement of his nomination. Maybe one percent could tell you the name of the Lieutenant Governor who will be taking over, but that's OK. Anyone else will be a breath of fresh air.

You use to have a good governor. Kathy Sibelius
Too bad that she took the hit forthe ACA online enlistment rollout snafus when she was appointed a cabinet member. The right and alt right crucified her. But she took the responsibility for it. Gutsy lady.
Like the two who stood up this week to the Cheeto.

You need to send your Secretary of State packing too. Another dipshit pushing a false agenda.

You wanna start political we can start political.

The job title is the funny part. It makes me wonder what other such offices exist that the common citizen never knew existed. That is why it made me think of whatever old comic strip(s) where such generalistic fluffery is used to amuse the reader. The ability to ignore reality in such lofty posts is exemplified as follows:
