Apparently, the $25,000 fee paid by Oregon is over 5 times the normal fee for recruit information packages ...
Oregon vs. Auburn should have been the NCAA Investigation Bowl.

Maybe ANY school wanting a recruit is cooked ...
Uncle Phil (aka Phil Night, Mr. Nike and UO alumni) bought himself a nice football team don't ya think?
Sad thing is, this goes on everywhere in some way shape or form. Its starts at the bottom. Rankings of kids. Measuring some kids against benchmarks to inherently place a seed in their head that they are "Worth" more than someone else, and that said "Worth" can make them money. Rankings used to only be on the Collegiate level and would be achieved after a long road of achievements and accolades. Once upon a time, actually earning a degree was a measurable, rank-able achievement. Now to the pro's, that desire of a degree in an athlete just means that recruit won't be available for 4 years.
It's all a common place now to get those high profile kids something and it all leads back to the money trail from the boosters, Bowl sponsors, sports agents, ect, whom seem to be shielded when it all comes crashing down on the backs and reputations of the kids involved.
Maybe ANY school wanting a recruit is cooked ...
I'm still mystified why everyone acts so surprised when something like this comes out.
College football is a business, probably the most visible marketing tool any university can utilize. Oregon invested less than 30k to use the skills of professional scouts, whose stated job is to find the best players possible to attend that school and play football there. That they didn't extend their little pinkie just so while recruiting these players is hypocritical at best.
I've always felt sports should be treated as a developed field of study, just like anything else. Why is it that college atheletes, most of whom are attending a college on scholarships they earned SOLELY because of their prowess, cannot major in football, baseball, soccer, etc.?
