The historic significance of this is incredible. Don't turn this political, but do consider the history:
Lewis & Clark repeating air rifle

I'd love to have one of these!!!

Wow. That is a bit of history I had never heard of.

Read the article about that air rifle in the Rifleman a few months ago. I knew that Lewis and Clark had an air riffle with them and demonstrated it often, but was not impressed with an air rifle. The article wiped away my misconceptions about that rifle. Was amazed that the technology existed than to build such a thing but the pressure vessel and a pump that is capable of pumping against over 800 psi is one heck of a pump that had to be well sealed, must have attached directly to the pressure vessel through a needle valve system because their was nothing available to the makers that could make a flexible hose that could withstand 800 psi. Rifle didn't last long in the Austrian Army long because their troops did not properly maintain them plus the need to have many armorers to come along making those often needed and common repairs. This Rifle was repaired during the Western Trip by someone in the group, that repair was described in one of the diaries, this rifle had repairs made to it that matched the diary description and that is the basis of the claim that is the rifle that accompanied Lewis and Clark expedition. I wonder if that repair was common for those Air Rifles and most used rifles had the same repair, don't know and not going to disprove the assumptions of the rifles travels, regardless it is a fine specimen of the gun-makers work that I consider ahead of its time. The replicas must have been fun to shoot, will someone buy me one of those things.

If it's an air rifle, why does it have a hammer?(used with caps)

Your question is briefly answered here:

Video is worth the time for the rest of the content.

FEMA Coffins?
I love your link, Nate, but let's not get all political or talk about impeachment, right.
I mean I've got calluses on my knuckles, too, but there are people who come to check out this wonderful site that may well be offended by that crap.
You could have found the same information on Google or Wikipedia and linked to that if all you wanted to highlight was the rifle.
I could give you links to lefty sights that would rock your world, but I don't
Why not?
Think about it

Don, I simply had never seen it. And, I followed a link to get there. You read more into me than I had in it.

So, out of respect for Wendell, et al, leave it alone.

Out of respect for Wendell, you should not have posted a link to a blatantly political site.
Use your head.
This is the DMZ, it's a neutral area.
I've known about that rifle since I was 12 years old. I've never had to read about it in such ridiculous context.
