Nothing record setting for some of y'all and I grew up in worse, but here in the Valley this morning:
Temp = 5°. wind = it's a blowin', wind chill = BRRRRRRRRR
Folks around here just ain't used to it. And I'm getting soft in my old age.
Temp 4°, wind 35 MPH gusting to 46 MPH, wind chill -22°. Just up I-81on the Mason Dixon line.
The bad news is the boiler stopped is igniting about twenty minutes ago. The good news is my wife is the service manager for an HVAC company and decides which of the technicians get the crappy jobs, they'll fight to be the first one over here.
You going to be at the MSS conference both days? I'm going to be there Monday only for the railroad right of way presentation by the surveyor from CSX.
I'll be arriving Monday afternoon and presenting all day on Tues.
Maybe we'll cross paths late Monday.
We had a nice day on Saturday.....67* and sunny with a light breeze. Sunday morning it is 26* and cold! Typical Mississippi weather. Some days, we run our air conditioners part of the day and then run our heaters the rest of the day!:-/
That's routine Kansas weather. Heater on until 10:30 or so and A/C on all afternoon.
The reason there are now thousands of power generating, gigantic windmills constructed in Kansas is the same reason we spend more time talking about wind chill than thermometer readings.

Much like central Ohio. Looking at the next week it will be only a little better. National Weather Service 7 Day Forecast for my local area. You can set the "+" over your home and get nearby current conditions and a good forecast. I've bookmarked the lat and long of my house and found this very helpful.

Not to hijack, but James, if you could possibly get some contact information for the guy with CSX,I would appreciate it. We had a gentleman from BNSF present at our conference last year, and we had a lot of requests to try to get CSX to come and present. They have a lot of lines in Tennessee.
Our conference chairman tried last year tried, but was unsuccessful in getting in touch with a CSX representative.
Thanks,
Jimmy

No problem.
We've had some of the warmest days in a February I can remember with temperatures into the 70's. Now it's just slightly below 32° and I am "freezing". Funny weather patterns around the country this year.

The fellow at TAPS last year was Jim Rader from Norfolk Southern.
I've got the name of the CSX guy at my office, he was at KAPS last year. I'll get it for you once the roads thaw (don't hold your breath).
