Beech can live suppressed for a long time, and 300 years is possible. I didn't have the time, the tool or the inclination to bore it.

On eastern Long Island, NY white oaks looked like the trees in the pictures. In the case here the white oaks were bent as a sapling to the shape of boat ribs.In an area you would see all the different rib shapes for a boat design. In another area you would see differently bent trees for another boat design.
