Last year I was asked to measure the distance from a proposed MJ "dispensary" to an adult and young adult education facility. 950 feet, more or less. The permit was denied, probably because of the requirement for a 1000 foot separation. Why that particular number I don't know but it also appears in separation from sex offenders and schools. It seems that 900 feet wouldn't make any difference. We now have about 4 or 5 in town.
