My Daughter texted me to see if I wanted to go to a Chris Stapleton Concert Friday for $170 a seat. It took three texts for me to finally get that this was not a joke. Now I agree that he is one of the most interesting performers as of late but $170 a seat. She did say that she found some cheap seats for $134. The 2nd Atlanta Pop Festival was $20 for three days of music that included Hendrix, Grand Funk, Allman Brothers, and many other headliners. I saw the Stones with Stevie Wonder as the warm up act for $20.00. Of course, i remember being upset when Cokes went from a nickel to a dime. I had to loose a tooth to get enough from the tooth fairy to buy a coke, so I could rot another tooth to get another Coke. My kids had to inform me that the Tooth Fairly was suppose to be good for as much as $5.

I never thought that I would become my parents in this area. However, I can't say "back in the depression we didn't have enough money to buy ____".

Well...if $170 is about 5 hours worth of work, and back in the day, $20 was more like 10 hours worth of work, maybe the price isn't so bad. I remember washing dishes for around $1.30/hour back around 1969 or 1970.

Well, as I see it, She is ASKING you to go. That counts for several points. And, I listened to some of his music. Hey, it good old love songs, and folk tunes. Another Plus.

At least she is not going to Woodstock, with a hippy doper, in a chartreuse micro VW Bus. Gonna sleep with 10 guys, while tripping on Coke, and acid.

I think you probably should go. Many folks don't get asked, by their daughter.

Pray about it. Have fun. Be a big spender. Bring your wife, and take them to dinner too. (ask about this first)

Just me thoughts.

It was free the first time I saw ZZTop when they played after the graduating ceremonies when I got my Associate Degree in Surveying from TJC. Their first album had not hit the shelves yet.

Free the last time I saw them, the next dude up threw two tickets on the pool table and said he would play for them. Great center front row at Pine Bluff, Ark.

Been to many concerts and never spent over $20 a ticket

My wife is not much on costly entertainment, she gets a thrill when I've already done the laundry by the time she gets home or haven't left a mess when I cook.

B-)

Yes I was very pleased that she asked me to go. I had already made a commitment to go to Star Wars Saturday with another Daughter and she was supposed to already get in touch with this one to go as well. The outing with two Daughters with dinner and a movie will be more than the cost of the ticket. The cost of the ticket just took me for a loop. A few quality hours with my Daughters is priceless.

Go, go, go,

I blew off an invite from my daughter to go to a Grateful Dead concert, bummer, never, ever did see them.

As to Woodstock, I got married that weekend, my wife says the jury is still out. We drove past Woodstock on our way to Cape Cod. I could not convince my bride we had enough room to take a few of those poor girls along. The New York State Police did as much as it could to hasten their departure from the state. I have never, ever seen again a single file line of hitch hikers all the way up a turnpike ramp.
