It is great hearing others cover John Prine.?ÿ He was one of those great song smiths - not the best singer, but boy could he sing, if you know what I mean.?ÿ Tom Waits and Bob Dylan are in that boat too, to name just a few.

@ken-salzmann yes, i know what you mean. it's HIS voice, there's no faking and no mistaking it. saw him 4 or 5 times over the years. just a great guy period, never mind the songs. funny, because he so perfectly captures whatever little fantasy land ethos/mythology i've always had built up around my folks (same age, midwest-ish sensibilities, etc) but i don't think either one of them could even tell you who he was (though they each know different songs of his as done by others).
sturgill simpson's turn on here is outstanding. and even though we've all heard her do it 1000 times, bonnie raitt... good god.
