Felt my second earthquake ever tonite at 7:12 PM. Only a magnitude 4.0 somewhere near Portland ME but I was putting down some carpet in an old farmhouse and felt the whole building shake for about 10 seconds. Felt like someone was rolling a piano across the floor above me.
Looks like you were spot on with the local time.
that's big enough to rattle dishes in the cupboard.
Any "casualties"?
I think we are 100 miles from Portland, so no damage and the power never flickered. Heard on the news that the emergency response system essentially went down because so many people called 911, even though there was no emergency.
During my first two years in college I lived a few miles from the firing range for Howitzers at Fort Riley. The old house, old barn and sheds reverberated routinely. Despite knowing the vibrations were harmless, they were disconcerting.
