We know Congress will approve almost anything if it has National on the front and Day on the end.?ÿ For example, National General Pulaski's Day.
I had no idea that today had been declared National Disable All Gas Station/Convenience Store Restrooms Day.
Seven hours on the road today.?ÿ Three times I found out the rest rooms were out of service.?ÿ In three different cities.?ÿ Oh, well.?ÿ That little grassy spot just around the back corner needed some liquid nutrients, anyway.?ÿ Not sure the results were so effective when directly applied to the parking lot pavement.
In our travels mentioned in another thread we found a national restaurant chain place that was only doing takeout because not enough staff to wait tables. We went to a big burger chain next door and made do, and then found their ice cream machine was down.
Disappointing all around after a weekend of repetitive peanut butter sandwiches, cold fried chicken, and fruit that we took along. There was other food available at the festival, at twice the price I'm used to.
"Little Surveyors Rooms" are EVERYWHERE! I've never had to go too far or look too hard to find one. ?????ÿ
The ladies at the bank across the street were clapping.

Curious minds need to know:?ÿ In 1929, the Congress recognized General Pulaski's enduring impact on American society by declaring?ÿOctober 11, ??General Pulaski Memorial Day.??ÿ
Many, many years ago one of my official office duties was to scan the Federal Register routinely looking for any items that might, in some fashion, have a connection to the world of Agricultural Engineering.?ÿ The very first Federal Register I picked up in 1975 featured that day as being General Pulaski Day.?ÿ There was no internet back in those days.?ÿ No instant answer to: "Who the heck is/was General Pulaski?"
@flga-2-2?ÿ In return, you should have been recognized earlier this year.

It's a Federal Law, passed by George Washington; Surveyors can piss anywhere, as long as they are discrete.
At least that's what I heard anyway...
@dougie I have noticed more outdoor cameras around this area, so it's good to know that George has us covered.
A fella back in the 1950s stopped at a country store/service station. The owner came out to gas him up,
"No gas," the fella said. "but do you have a restroom?" The owner took him into the store and pointed out the restroom door. Fella went in, stayed a few minutes, came out and took a swallow or two from the water cooler.
Then he walked up to the counter and asked. "Do you have a stamp that I could buy?" The owner pulled a book of stamps from his shirt pocket and sold the fella one.
Fella licked the stamp, put it on an envelope and asked. "How's business?"
The owner rubbed his chin and replied, "Well, I'm worried. All I can seem to do is trade ice water for pi$$ and sell stamps at cost, and that ain't gonna pay the bills."
?ÿ
Good story.?ÿ I'm the guy who always buys something, even if I don't really need anything at the moment.?ÿ Just a little Thank You for the privilege of doing my business on their dime.?ÿ Newspapers, peanuts, maybe a bag of chips that will be consumed eventually, anything I might get around to using.?ÿ One more ice scraper that will magically disappear before the first icy day.
