Would you delete anything you've said to date given the chance? Do a search with your name or moniker. It's on the web. Easily searched.
If you are looking for a job, let's say a city or government position, do you ever wonder if they have checked the web to see your posts? Doesn't really matter if it's here, face book or any other chat room.
Would you delete?
Do you think folks check the web?
Does it matter to you?
Just curious.
(and yes...I meant to spell hear...not here...few will catch the meaning)
I can't think of any post I'd delete...I'd like to correct some of my misspellings though.:-) 😛

That's why I post anonymously.
I can't think of any I'd want to retract. However, I'm pretty much unemployable now -- having been self-employed for 19 years -- so I'm not worried about what any "future employer" might think. (If I were younger I might look at the matter differently.)
I can't think of anything I'd delete but I also don't keep my skeletons in the closet, I keep em elsewhere ...my life is an open book on the Internet ... Love this digital age. If somebody has a problem with what I post and there has been some instances then their not somebody I'd hang with anyway... What some don't realize is I'm actually quite an introvert and have trouble speaking to more then a couple people at the same time.. But a camera and the net can bring me out ...
I love technology and I would never delete any of my posts. (Grammar and spelling mistakes aside) I tend to think that at any given point in time, I will be able to do, say and think, the best decisions, words and thoughts available to me at the time. Hindsight, does nothing for ya.
I like the responses. I posted this because of someone I know who has had some interviews with a city park and recreation department. A friend, who is also a police officer made a comment for this person to be careful what they post on FB. Said the city now monitors fb....guess it's sorta like checking a ref. I disagree with using any type of social network as something that would be taken into consideration for hire.
I post what I post here and wouldn't care to delete anything I have said. Just curious.
Not ME. WYSIWYG. No bones.
I won't post here what I wouldn't say to your face.
Depending on circumstances I might say something F2F that I wouldn't post here.
:good:

:good: I am just as big an a-hole in person as I am on here. Some would say even more so in person. 🙂
Like Jim Frame, I'm pretty much unemployable having been on my own for 25 years. Very doubtful that a typical survey client would do an investigation of my internet postings.
My youngest daughter works in marketing. She recently moved to her third hospital (employer). I am sure they researched her work abilities by checking out all sorts of items on the internet that were her work product from her previous hospital experience. She would definitely expect them to also check social media for her non-worktime behavior. She is very, very careful of her image as she is a "face" for her employer before the public.
I've been told, off the cuff, by more than one HR professional, and or recruiter that if an applicant thinks that their Online profile will not be looked at prior to an interview etc, they are crazy.:-X
It won't be used or discussed in a legal sense with the applicant but off the record they can formulate an unstated opinion that may or may not weight on any hiring process.

No, I would not delete anything I've posted here (or on that other survey site), but one of the reasons I post as I do is that I don't want my name and opinions (survey, political or otherwise) showing up all over google and other search engines. Sure, it's easy enough to find me anyway, but I'd prefer not to deal with the potential hassle of "outsiders" to this board (or at least the surveying community, such as it is).
I choose to post here to interact with other surveyors, but I don't look for any additional interaction with non-survey chatters. Some of the discussions here (both surveying related and P&R) are in the spirit, if not the letter of personal (if not "private") conversations, as one might have in a restaurant or a bar, i.e., easy to overhear, but none of your business if I don't know you.
I don't take any other special precautions, but I won't engage an e-mail or other communication from someone I don't know (i.e., a non-poster) about stuff on here.
No, same as facebook.

makes me wonder what HR might consider 'too much'.
Isn't this a place to let it all hang out 😉
Witnesses can attest that I say the same where ever most of the time and try to use language appropriate to the surroundings.
A good STFU is appropriate now and them.
It is amazing what a site like Google will bring into play.........
