This board needs some trash talk like we used to do in years past.

I'll get it started.

OU sucked last night. Got beat at home for only the 4th time in the Bob Stoops era.

I did not see that one coming even tho KState has a very good team.

That was better than seeing USC getting beat last weekend.

My longhorns are a young bunch, but are playing some good ball but have a three game stretch that is brutal.

LSU got pushed to the max yesterday, but Alabama looks like they are the best in the land.

My smack buddy Deral is MIA, since he is floating amongst the love clouds, so someone needs to step it up and get the talk going.

lol

Randy

WVU has Baylor at home next week but then they go to Texas for two straight weeks to whoop on the Longhorns and the Red Raiders. Look out Big 12; we appreciate the hospitality but we are definitely gonna come to play.

I have mixed emotions about the Oklahoma loss; I was kind of hoping to see the OK/WV November match-up consist of two undefeated teams.

Just wait until October 20 when you will need to hand out crying towels to all the home crowd. On that date, K-State will put at least the third Big 12 defeat on WV for the season. Come west and play some real teams, young man. Geez, James Madison wasn't even a surveyor, let alone a football player.

Randy. The only question is will Texas put the first or second Big 12 loss on West Virginia and Geno Smith's minions? Is Geno some foreign version of John? You know, the guy that slept at the Holiday Inn last night.

Could be the dawgs year

At the beginning of the year that is what look forward too. When we get all are defensive personnel back we can compete with anyone. Murray is sharp and the 2 freshman running backs – Gurley and Marshall are potent on the offensive side.
October the 6th is one of the critical dates – South Carolina.
We have a fairly easy schedule.
We’ll take care of Alabama at the SEC Championship game.

woof! Woof!

VT can be a good team or a very bad team.

We looked good (but not great) yesterday against Bowling Green. But, we looked awful last week against Pitt. We have to play both Clemson and Florida State yet, and after that track meet last night, I very afraid to play either one... We could eek one win out of those two and bang out another 10 win season... I'd be happy with that.

How's that for smack talk? Or just do I just sound apologetic? 😉

GO HOKIES!!

ohhh... Here's how I'll lay the SMACK!!!

I'M LEADING THE PICK 'EM POOL!!!! 😛

The Big East ain't no Big 12

To the West Virginia fan who said they were upset that Oklahoma lost yesterday and won't be unbeaten for a November match up of unbeatens against West Virginia, I would like to know how sure you are that your team is going to be unbeaten that late in the season.

I know you have some skilled offensive playmakers, but you will soon learn that in this conference there isn't anything (beside Kansas)you can just take for granted. It really is a pretty deep conference, which I doubt anyone would say about the Big East you played in before now. Texas Tech always upsets at least one team that they had no business beating, and the same can usually be said about Iowa State. Just ask Oklahoma or Oklahoma State about last year's games, and the same can be said for an unbeaten Texas team from 2008 about a night game in Lubbock. I'm still stunned and crushed about that particular game.

So, we'll see how things go for everyone in the Big 12, after yesterday I don't think there is a clear cut favorite to win the conference. I think that as many as six teams probably feel they can win the conference right now. West Virginia is most certainly one of those teams, but they'll have to earn it each and every saturday this season.

Just take it from a die hard Texas fan - around these parts you better not count your chickens before they hatch or you'll soon be eating some crow.;-) :-@ 😉

They actually play football outside of the SEC?? |-)
Are little flags on their belts involved?? :-/

Sorry Randy. I've been a bit out of the loop on college football days lately. In Kentucky they are already talking about the basketball team. Living in Western Kentucky, I rooted for West Kentucky and they pulled out a win last week over Kentucky U. It was an upset I suppose but I really don't know much about either team, other than Kentucky is among those low on the rung in the SEC.

My Pokes had an off day yesterday and we spent it getting massages and watching the dragon boats down on the convergence of the Ohio and Tennessee rivers. One of the smaller college teams took home the over all victory. A college called Murray University. But even though Kentucky is not a powerhouse at the college level in football then the local high schools evoke much the same sort of enthusiasm as does the friday night lights in Texas. 🙂

It is so laid back here compared to Oklahoma (and that is saying something about SW Oklahoma). No one gets in any hurry about anything. Babies are even two weeks late most the time.

I did read about the OU loss this weekend. Sounds like they have a lot of problems in the o-line but I didn't see the game. My Pokes have a great team but will have problems with the lack of experience. That will come but I don't expect a repeat of last year with all the parity among the ranks.

I have checked out the progress of the new teams to us and the new teams to the SEC. I'm excited about that, as at least this year, is will seem like both get to see some teams from out of conference that are competitive (or not as the case may seem).

I'll get back in the groove Randy. Trust me. The season is young yet.

Deral,

Its horn vs cowboy week.

What are we going to bet this year?

If the longhorn cap from a few years ago did not make the trip with you, then you need another one. lol

I actually have worn the Longhorn hat a few times over here in Kentucky. How about a bottle of our bourbon vs something truly Texan?

I think your defense is going to give us fits but it should be a very interesting game. We still can put up a lot of points and spread out defenses but we do have a very young QB.

Deral

My baby girl (she's still my baby even if she's 30) was an athletic trainer and got her Master's Degree from Murray State. Tommy Young ain't too far away from there (neither is Paducah). If'n you're gonna be retired you might as well be somewhere where everyone else is laid back too.

It's odd but there are a lot of UT fans in western Kentucky. I see many horn logo's and always in the preferred horns up style.

I have yet to see any OU or OSU shirts, caps or license plates in our area but I'm sure there may be some.

You can't spit though without hitting three or four University of Kentucky National Champs basketball shirts.

As far as the pro's go then you see Cardinals, Bears, Colts and regional teams. My sweety is hot on the Bears so that's my team now. They play the Cowgirls next monday night so that will be a fun game to watch as a former Dallas fan. Actually I've wained ever since JJ took over the reins. It's just not America's team any longer. Cutler is a pretty good QB but I love a good defense and the Bears have some serious muscle in that area.

One thing mostly universal in the area is the dislike for Green Bay. I'm not sure why that is so, but there you have it.

Deral

Murray by all accounts has a very good school. I see a lot of their fans around sporting Murray gear. Not sports related but just proud of their school. 🙂

Andy

My daughter is in her senior year, her major athletic trainer. She also wants to get her master degree. I would like for your daughter to speak to mine to see what might be available there.

Drop me an email (address is in my profile) with contact info for your daughter and I'll pass it along. My daughter loves her job, but she also has to teach to make ends meet.
