It appears that hitting an animal on the roadway and leaving the scene is now a crime similar to if you were to hit a human and leave the scene.

I don't think I would want to stick around and see what mamma would do. Maybe the crime was not calling a vet to care for the animal?

So I should sue the deer that ran into my vehicle for leaving the scene of an accidental and not having insurance? I am in favor of treating animals with respect; however, calling an accident a crime unless the motorist was intentionally trying to hit the bear is ridiculous.

I believe if I accidently struck and killed an animal on the endangered species list while on federal land, I'd run too.

You'd probably get less jail time for murder....
