I guess that makes me an older fart.?ÿ I'm not particularly a Gallagher fan, but he's been around a long time.

Speaking of older farts, if any of you are interested in music (even casually) and haven't seen the movie The Wrecking Crew, it's well worth a watch.?ÿ It's on YouTube, and looks at the work done by the collection of session musicians who made almost every hit record in the early-to-mid 1960s.?ÿ Although the music is credited to the featured artists (think Beach Boys, Byrds, Mamas and Papas, Herb Alpert, Simon & Garfunkle, Monkees, Turtles,?ÿ Glen Campbell [a former Wrecker himself], Johnny Rivers, Sonny & Cher, and many more), it was the work of this loose assemblage of 20 or 30 studio musicians who made the signature sound of the 1960s.

@jim-frame

I was born in 70. I didn't have a choice. And yeah the seventies and late 60s spawned a whole crop of still monstrous guitar players.

As an erstwhile player, I forget sometimes all the under the radar guys and gals even that ive come across in the past 30 years.

Rory drank himself to death by 1995.

And this video shows his insane crowd energy amd connection to them.

Either way changing the oil in truck now. Java. Its not so scary. If youre a compiler...

I'm kinda bored with the classic rock era of guitarists. They're great, for sure, but I've heard most if it all before.

?ÿ

Currently, my favorite guitarist is Mark Lettieri.

Just another example of the talent that is always just around the corner, or another web link.?ÿ These guys remind me a little of like a combo of Deep purple meets Eric Johnson meets Mark Littieri.?ÿ 🙂

@jitterboogie

Mark cites Eric Johnson as one of his influences, among many others. Some of his stuff with Snarky Puppy is amazing.

Willie Nelson, at damn near 90 years old, is one of the 3 or 4 best guitar players Iƒ??ve ever seen. (Iƒ??ve seen him 4 times since 1977, didnƒ??t remember his playing standing out previously). His sister, Bobbie, 4-5 years older, is likewise one of the very best boogie woogie piano players on earth right now. 4 piece band, combined age of about 300, played two hours straight 18 months ago. The only shame is his voice is gone. He sounds like a man on the way out. But that playing- astounding.

@jim-framei was a semi pro musician from 71 to 2014. I learned from all the wrecking crew greats. My favorite story is Carol Kay had a session bass line for "the Beat Goes On". She thought the written line was boring so she decided to "swing" that classic intro and arguably made Cher the famous sound that still lives.

Phil Keaggy is the best guitarist I have ever seen live, and he is considered by many to have a real contention for "The Best"

And he is missing a finger...

I met Phil several times when I was a college student doing guitar tech roadie work for my teacher Dave Beetle....another amazing under known guitar player.

This string might go viral within the beerleg.com world with all the great players....bring it on!!!!!
