It's a full-length documentary I found and is over 2 hours long.
I'm not even half-way through it but already have my 2-CD set "Duane Allman Anthology" out ready to go afterwards.
Duane Allman: Song of the South Duane Allman and the Rise of the Allman Brothers
At least that's how it's titled on hulu.com
E,
thanks for the link. When Duane and Greg were “kids” they used to practice in my friends garage in Daytona Beach. When they finally practiced enough to be a “band” they were called the “Almond Joys”, and played at a club in Daytona called the “Martinique”. Cool place with $0.25 tequila sunrises! Great music makers, but crazy as hell after they hit the big time. 😉
They mentioned all that you mentioned in the documentary.
Jees... 0.75 shot of tequila with the Bros on stage... I'm all in (someone is going to have to carry me home) 😉
A former neighbor claimed to be one of their stage managers back then and said he was there when Duane had that fatal accident. Part of his story(ies) does coincide with the public history - a lot would not be public knowledge unless you were actually there. The timings all fit and he did introduce me to some rather famous people so I imagine at minimum he was definitely part of that crowd.
You ought to check out the movie Muscle Shoals for some good Duane Allman footage.and stories And also because it's one of the best movies you'll ever see.
I had "An Anthology" on 8 track tape. Now you got me hankering to hear it again.
Mike, better email in private. I might could hook you up with that on the "An Anthology" CDs. Won't know until I try.
E.
Dang this is really wanting me to turn the keyboard back on. I tried to play a little the other night. I can't play by ear so I need some sheets to read from - problem with that, I haven't read sheet music in over 40 years. They say it comes back to you.....I'm waiting, and still trying in the mean time. I'd love to be able to play "Jessica" on the keyboard(s).
edit: can't help on the CDs and my keyboard playing wasn't going to fly either....

I saw it in the past year on PBS. I think it was part of the indie film series. Excellent documentary about Muscle Schoals.
I hadn't known that Duane Allman cut his chops as a studio sideman there and played on a lot of tunes you would not associate with him.
Another interesting doc that has a lot of Allman Bros info is
A Warehouse on Tchoupitoulas. It has been released on DVD but they showed here on the local PBS station.
They gigged there very frequently way back when including a lot of new year eve shows.it was an old cotton warehouse along the Mississippi in New Orleans. It was there favorite venue to play.
Saw the Brothers at the Warehouse several times back in the day. I have a lot of fond memories of that place and wish I hadn't gotten so out of it so I could have remembered more.
Thanks for tha Allman Brothers link. I will watch that soon.
