I believe that the 2 boards can coexist in harmony.
One is not better than the other, but they both have distinct flavors that most will enjoy, no matter their tastes.;-)
When you try to please everyone, no one will be happy, there will have to be compromise.

Here's one....anyone heard of it?

MLB and Kieth have infected this thread
Really? What did you think was going to happen when you threw down the gauntlet? Differing opinions are still allowed. Burying your head in the sand is NOT going to make them go away. It just makes you look very foolish.
Squinty and Gunter get a pass. By this you reveal your bias as well. You do have options. You can always goto SpongeBobPlumToo and get a lecture on classic two-bit rebar identification. (emphasis added)

I don't see it that way, sinc.
> The other board seems to have more survey content. This board has been getting a lot of posts lately, but most of them have been more socially-oriented. I've seen a lot more "serious" topics on the other board lately.
I don't see it that way, sinc. I see most of the threads there are 'serious', but there are much fewer of those 'serious' threads there than here. But, I consider all threads I read on all the message boards I monitor to be 'serious' to some degree or another. I read both these sites. Seems to me the major difference between the two is one is primarily concerned with helping large corporations to generate sales and the other is more concerned with providing a place for land surveying type people a place to communicate with each other and still cover expenses. And they are, here, communicating on a fairly large scale with others about unlimited and far ranging 'serious' subjects.
In other words, the more surveyors that show up and participate in a web site forum, the more serious the subjects being discussed. Whether they be "surveying" related, or not.
Just my opinion.
Take care,
Ed

good point, Ed.

It is time for another Mark Deal to create a new surveyors web page. As long as I can remember I would check in and see what was new in the surveying community with very little effort. Now I wait for the site to come up then have to make choices on what I want to look at ......and wait.....and wonder if I should have made another choice.....email me when you get something as good as it was, till then, see ya! Jp

Awww man...he would be welcome with open arms here!! :good: Let's hope he comes over here and joins the rest of you fine surveyors. 🙂
interesting post
Yeah, I saw that one. He basically said he wasn't coming back and for someone to email him with a link to an alternative site, which is what you did (he should get an email notification of the private message you sent). He is definitely welcome here. 🙂
interesting post
He can join the rest of us "technophobes."
The new POB site is about as "cutting edge" as "Microsoft Bob" was in 1995.
LOL!
