We get some crazy emails sometimes. This one seems to think we sell surveying equipment. For that, they should be contacting one of our advertisers, such as GeoShackDirect.com. 🙂

Search robots, forum headings "marketplace, buy, sell & trade" coupled with robot mailings. Likely very little human review of the combined results. The best and worst of automation.
I get those also.
Once in a blue moon I get the request "you have a state license, I need you to come out and survey so and so and resolve a problem so I can build my fence".
When I give them an estimate they reply "since you work for the state why should I have to pay anything to you".
Never have found out why people get that notion.....
I get those too Wendell. I could make a killing selling equipment overseas!;-)

That's hilarious. Ask him if he has a State Driver's license, and if he does maybe he can start driving you to your jobs.
This one seemed to come from a university, so it seemed legit. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it really is legit. 🙁

Really?
This is a common scam in the equipment business. They send a request for a quote, provide a stolen credit card and ask for the items to be sent overnight to one of their "community campuses". The "community campus" shipping address is usually a warehouse in an industrial area. I have received hundreds of these solicitations. The email and associated website is usually something like- www.MichiganUniversity.edu.com.
If its legit, it will not have a .com at the end of it, only a .edu.
Anyways, that is my experience with that kind of scam.
That makes sense, thanks for the information.
