Hey guys,
Been reading around the forum lately, ever since I ended up here looking up some information regarding equipment.
I'm a 30 year old Land Surveyor from the Netherlands.
Equipment is Leica CS20 + GS16 + MS50.
Not sure what else to add in an short introduction, so for now i'll go back to lurking and perhaps ask a question or two once in a while. 🙂
Regards,
Mill

Welcome, Mill. 🙂
Howdy GeoMill
Glad you found the site
Welcome, stop lurking and start posting there is plenty of diversity here and we consider ourselves all brothers and sisters. 🙂
Hi Mill,
nice to have some more Europeans on board!
What kind of surveys are you used to? Self-employed?
Don't forget to post us some pictures of your outdoors survey office

Welcome from smoky California! Are you involved with real property surveys, or is that strictly the domain of the Kadaster?
Welcome Mill, and as someone said, stop lurking. Let us know who you work for and what your primary work is. I think we all like to hear what others are doing and how they are doing it. I would be interested in knowing what your vertical datum is there. I have the perception that a portion of your country is below sea level. Are the elevations in these areas negative? (I am at an elevation of ?ñ7,000 feet.)
Welcome Mill. Jump in with both feet. New perspectives keep this Board interesting...

Running a Land Surveying company with my younger brother we inherited too early.
We are mainly into infrastructure, construction and surveys for local governments although we do have an occasional project in pipelines.
I checked that today's office page out.. first post up top i clicked was a surveyor riding a heli.. How to compete with that.. 😉

It's not strictly in the domain of the Kadaster. We are currently not involved in it yet, but we are exploring possibilities with some clients who have been looking for surveyors with experience in this field.

Our highest point is barely 1000 feet... unfortunately i'm living in "new land". One of those cities that will dissappear first if the dykes ever break. The average elevation in my hometown is roughly 3 metres below sea level.
Thanks for all the welcomes everyone :). I'll see if i can make the jump in here with two feets thebionicsman.
Just curious... how does the Imperial system not drive you guys crazy when surveying? Metric system is so much more convenient for out profession. 😛 (Hope I didnt step on anyones toes saying this)

Some of us passed that point long ago. Units are units. Our system is a hybrid in a sense using a base 10 numerical system where decimal points can be shifted as in metric. 1.0', .10', .01', ect. If you want to make a US surveyor flip out, ask him to use inches, which I was long ago informed are only for carpenters and ladies of the night.
Welcome to the club Mill.
Cheers! errr .... Proost!:clink:
