Surveying in Oklahoma apparently has it's dangers:

One of our members had a piece of equipment stolen today. It was a Topcon GB-1000
Base receiver. The item was stolen from a base set up near the intersection of
Cemetery Road and Louisiana Street in Durant, OK. The base receiver was the only
item taken.
Please notify the owner (below) if you have any information.

UniversalPegasus had a Trimble base receiver stolen two weeks ago from a site on
State Highway 9 just West of Seminole. They took the receiver, tripod, tri-brach and
battery.

Everybody remember to keep an eye on your stuff. When the DC alerts you that the base has "moved" it's too late.....
At my old job I made a bracket that fit around the "neck" of the Hiper base station and padlocked to a chain, which I could then attach to something nearby. It wouldn't survive a bolt cutter, but it would prevent someone driving by from snatching it.
I just back in RTK'ing this month, and I'm grateful to have a nice (and free) RTN here in Florida.
Thanks paden!
Got that message once in a village. School had just let out and when I went back to the base, I had a kid on each leg of the tripod climbing up to see what was on top!

I did something similar with my Leica robot: I attached 1/16" stainless steel aircraft cable loops to most of the components (radio, battery, comm/power cable). I loop another aircraft cable through all of those, and through the tribrach and the tripod. (I turned the tribrach release screw to the locked position and plugged the screwdriver hole in the release handle with a bit of rubber.) I then lock the whole shebang to something solid, or to the aluminum hand cart I use when I can't drive up to an instrument station. The system won't stop a determined thief, but it'll discourage most of the casual yahoos looking for a quick and easy score.

IF they also IMBEDDED the lat lon in the photo, well, leave on attached to the base.
