Hello, my name is Cathy and I am a second generation land surveyor. I am currently waiting for my license application to be approved so I may sit for the NJ state specific test. I am excited to be a member of this community and learn as much as I can from everyone!
Welcome, Cathy! Good luck on your upcoming exam. 🙂
Welcome to the group, Cathy! Good luck with your exam.

Thank you both!
Welcome Cathy! I've been licensed in NJ for 32 years and assume that the NJ State Specific is all digital now as it relates to applications.
When I was licensed in 1993, everything was done by snail mail and took months to get any reply from the state board because NCEES profiles and verifications did not exist and the system was not computerized.
If you have passed the national exams and are only looking the take the state specific part, part of that requirement in NJ is to have a four year degree, an Associates in Applied science is not going to qualify you. If you have a four year degree, you should have no problem being approved to sit for the two hour exam.
If you have the qualifications to sit, I recommend that you study the NJ Revised Statutes as they relate to land surveying, the NJ Map Filing Law and be prepared to answer questions about the state board composition, terms of the members and things like that, they may pepper you with a few questions on that topic.
Best of luck to you! Back in my day, before the process was modernized, waiting for acceptance and exam results was nail biting in anticipation. I passed both national exams and the state specific at the last two days of October 1992 and did not get my passing results in the mail until February 1993.
Welcome Cathy. You have found probably the most helpful resource for newly licensed folks and those of us who have been in this business for a while in this Board. Don't hesitate to ask questions- I've been licensed for 24 years and still learn new things by reading this Board. Some of the folks here have truly "seen and done it all" and are a wealth of knowledge.
Good luck on your first test and best to you~
