Hello,
I have been a drafter for over 12 years with 10 years in the Civil Engineering field. I have done a lot of GIS and survey work using GPS, but I have not had a lot of experience with actual property and legal surveying. I am attempting to take my LSIT in October the 29-30 2016. I would like some help figuring out the best way to submit my qualifications in order to take the exam. I hear it is easier to just go to California for the LSIT, because the requirements of proof of experience are so much easier.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Eric Price
Uh, your info says you are already licensed in Arizona. What license do you already have?
Welcome friend. Good luck in all your endeavors. You will do well.

You are talking about taking the Fundamentals of Surveying exam and then applying for certification as an LSIT. You can register at NCEES.org to sit any day of the year depending on seat availability at a Pearson CBT near you. Once you register, choose which state board and select the exam you wish to schedule for. it is 110 questions with about a six hour maximum seat time.
Howdy.....
I recommend that everyone in the surveying field that has never spent actual time in the field spend at least one vacation helping a surveyor in the field.
It takes being there to appreciate and gain a perspective to what it takes to gather information on the physical locations.

I didn't chose that? I am just from AZ. I hope to get licences here and I plan on taking my LSIT this year in October. I have been a Civil Engineering designer my entire career in AZ.
I have not spent enough time on here to figure out how to change my licensed status.
Does anyone know if I can take the California LSIT more easily?

Yes I am registered with NCEES.org and I have all of the paper work downloaded, but I want to make sure I have the correct experience so there is no delay in the process. I thought I might be getting the Fundamentals of Surveying exam confused with the Professional Surveyor exam, because someone else mentioned only the PE, FE, and PS have designated times to test???

For California, you need two years of land surveying experience or two years of land surveying education or a combination of land surveying experience and education totaling at least two years. When you register for the FS exam in the NCEES registration system and if you choose California, you will self certify that you meet California requirements for the LSIT. After passing the FS exam, simply download the LSIT application from www.bpelsg.ca.gov and submit it. If your experience/education meet the requirements, we will certify you.
