I'm trying like crazy to find out why that would happen, but I cannot seem to replicate the problem. I tried it on a test user account without admin privileges just to make sure it wasn't a permissions problem as well. I would like to help but I'm not sure how to fix it. 🙁
Are you sure you checked everything except P&R? Sorry, I'm not trying to offend you and I'm certainly not questioning your intelligence, but I cannot find the problem.
I have unchecked P & R and Construction and Mining.
I unchecked P & R when I signed up. I cannot stand it and many others cannot.
One other thing you can try... look at the category dropdown at the top right corner of the home page and make sure it is set to "My Selection".

Well, each post cleary shows what category it was posted under. Until Wendell gets it fixed, can't you just ignore the P&R posts?

If I'm not logged in, then the "my selection" category does not work because it is not an option:
Once I log in, the "My Selection" filter can be chosen and the profile categories I have un-checked are filtered out:
Maybe that's the problem?
P&R blocking works fine for me when My Selection is in force. Unfortunately, the category setting falls back to All Categories in an apparently random fashion. It seems to occur once or twice a day, but I haven't been able to associate the change with any particular event.
What I am seeing is that when you close the browser, it defaults to "all categories" when you restart the browser.
I'm using Firefox 3.6.8
