Thank you!

I just checked the statistics for the site and in the last 24 hours, we've already used 4% of our bandwidth for the month. I'd say that's a good indication.

I would also like to thank those responsible for this site. I know I will enjoy posting here.

Fortunately, I have some room to grow on my current server. I just gave us an upgrade. 🙂

Wendell,

And therein lies the rub, doesn't it. If this site brings a whole bunch of posters (even more so than the other site), won't we eat up the bandwidth and thus subject you to paying for the extra use? Wasn't that one of the reasons that Mark Deal sold out to POB was for the unlimited bandwidth, thus no problems? I'd hate to see you saddled with website bandwidth charges... and I'll admit that I have no idea how that stuff is charged.

I just don't want you to have to foot a bill for our fun!!

I like the tip jar too.

As for the site: Simple is always good. Always remember the K.I.S.S. principle: "Keep It Simple, Stupid." I am so glad for this simple site. It worked for more than a decade for a reason. We dinosaurs can only handle so much change.<:o)

Wendell, you have made us all very happy.

Well, I am hoping the ad revenue will help with at least some of the costs associated with this site. I may at some point add a donate button... even with our current user count, if 50% of the users donated a measly dollar a month, that's about $35.

With any luck, after we have some solid statistics in place, we may be able to attract some survey-related companies to advertise their wares here.

Does that mean

Someone could actually advertise equipment for sale rather than asking where they should advertise "equipment" that would be sold for "value" and be able to post their email address.;-)

I totally understand. A paypal donate button might be an option. Keep us apprised, you know you've got some fans here that will GLADLY pay a little bit a month to keep this format afloat... I know I will/would... kinda like buying a beer for the commissioner of a fantasy league... or something of the like.

Tip Jar

Wendell, how much trouble is it to add a PayPal button or, failing that, to just post an address to send (you) a check?

Tip Jar

Good point Kent. I'm sure there is some cost involved in creating and maintaining this site. We've already seen what "commercialism" can do. How about some kind of arrangement where in exchange for contributing some modest amount, a guy gets some kind of special notation to show who has contributed and who has not...Shame is a powerful motivator. 🙂

Do you mean a symbol next to their name

Say a Tripod for donors and a pink hardhat for non donors?

Hey, I don't care about that

Hmmm, that's the old public television problem, isn't it? My own opinion is that I'd gladly send Wendell a hundred bucks per year to help defray costs. Don't tell the IRS, but I'd probably try to figure out how to write it off as a business expense. Hey, the "supporters" page would probably qualify as advertising, wouldn't it?

I was just wondering to myself, "how could I write that off?"

Maybe the donors could be called members of

The fraternal Order of the Beer Leg.

Fraternal orders operating under the lodge system are available to IRS deductions.
