Well, Wendell
You might as well add Mark Riedel, aka Mark R, to that list, of another guy who used his real name but got permanently banned. Seems like real names don't matter.
I'll miss Don. I enjoyed his posts.

> Just want you to both remember that the vast majority of us out here appreciate the hell out of you making it possible for us to participate in these remarkable exchange of thoughts and wisdom. It really is too bad that the rotten apples cause such an uproar with their stupidity, but I guess it will always be that way when there is such anonimity. I wish we could all behave as if we were guests in your home and treat each other with respect. Anyway, thank you for dealing with these things so we all don't have to.
I'll second that, thanks for the effort Wendell and Angel.

A google hit on a person's name could come from the middle of a long, involved thread that changed completely from it's original topic to something else. In addition, if I want to talk about a particular situation in my area of practice, I don't have to worry about offending anyone involved.

Yes, very good points and I might add when you post on the internet you are publishing your opinion.

Of course for you it's different, your posts are so well reasoned.

I know, especially those guys who disagree with you.

> Is your Williams background the same as mine....Irish?
Williams is a Welsh surname, not Irish.
In Wales, adding an "s" to the end of a surname denotes "son of," pointing to Wales as the origin of many people with the Williams surname. The Williams surname is also popular in countries such as England, Scotland and Germany. Williams is the third most popular surname in the United States and Great Britain.
Surname Origin:
English, Welsh

"Do you really know my name, Angel? I thought you needed a court order to link an IP to a real name. Anyway, I'd like to keep it secret. Some of these posters seem a bit off, if you ask me. ;-)"
That was fairly cheap, TPR. I don't believe the two of them had anything like the same background. Interestingly, if you had made the wrong assumption, you are still posting anonymously. Does that seem fair ?
For what it is worth (For Wendel & Angel)
If you are a church goer, well, it is USUALLY:
1.) the same folks are always late.
2.) the same folks that contribute most of the cash.
3.) the same folks that complain the most.
4.) the same folks that speak up, at inappropriate times.
5.) the same folks that are always complaining. (This is not a typo, see 3 above)
6.) the same folks that want to spend YOUR money.
7.) the same folks that think your time is not as valuable as theirs.
8.) the same folks that make misteaks!
So, based on this, I recommend that you just ACCEPT the fact that banning a poster or two every month, comes with the job. (Ya know, some folks just did not "get any" last night, and have no idea how come they got up so cranky, and now they are gonna take it out on somebody, and YOU just happened to be there... nothing personal!) The cycles of the moon, cannot go by, without some lunatic getting their long johns in a wad!
So, relax. Accept this as one of the duties of the job. And DON'T let it get to you.
It's NORMAL. We are not in heaven yet.
Thanks!
Nate

I've been doing this type of online moderation thing since 1991. I grew a hard shell 20 years ago... I don't let "it" get to me unless some crazed Land Surveyor decides to threaten to slice my daughters throat open and leave her to bleed to death on my front porch, or threatens to come to our house and "shoot us between the eyes and blow us away". THEN it gets to me and I make it known.
Other than that, pfft... no worries. B-)

Huh? Mark Reidel aka Mark R aka Mapmaker151 were absolutely the same person from Kansas. It's hardly "cheap" when he puts his name in his profile....
Well, Wendell
Good God!
You ARE right, I was wrong. Two posters on this board with nearly the same name, and a world of difference in experience and geography. Thanks TPR, that definitely makes some sense now.
Well, Wendell
Mark R and Mapmaker151 were both unlicensed crew chiefs, who moved from Washington state to Kansas, and were both right wing fanatics who couldn't spell the word the "you're" right, ever ... The name Mark R appeared on this board a few weeks after the name Mapmaker151 was permanently banned ... Come on RJ, let's piece some things together, here. It's WELL KNOWN from all the people who participate in P&R regularly that Mark R and Mark Riedel and Mapmaker151 were all the same person. If the guy puts his real name on in the profile, it's not out of bounds to use his real name on this board. Get a grip, man.
Well, Wendell
Maybe you are confusing Mark Roedel (aka Rankin File, surveyor from Montana), with Mark Riedel (aka Mark R, aka Mapmaker151, aka surveyor190, aka subdivide... all names that were banned for his bad behavior) crew chief from Kansas. There is a difference.
Well, Wendell
That's exactly it.
