I know that chit-chat and probably some other non-surveying topics require login.?ÿ I think all surveying related topics are public.

If it's not surveying-related, it's not available to non-members, EXCEPT for announcements, FAQ and assorted other things that might be useful for guests. This is because I really only want to attract quality traffic, i.e. surveyors or those with a distinct interest in surveying. By hiding non-surveying topics, Google and other search engines can't index those topics.
