For anyone who watches these things, you can't help but notice that Professional Surveyor's US web traffic rank is now better than that of rpls.com.

Here are the ranks reported by alexa.com today. The "Day" number refers to 07/01/2010 as Day 1. Today is Day 80.

Day/US Web Traffic Rank

.rpls.com
80 303173
69 165606
68 176895

profsurv.com
80 284414
76 250323
68 496305

I wonder if Jim Fleming, the editor of Professional Surveyor, has secretly hired MLB to run his website for him. I'm thinking probably ... not.

MLB has locked out everyone from the Lounge who doesn't agree with him. What a tool. But that is fine. He, Keith and Cam can keep stroking each other. They seem to enjoy it. Better over there than here where we'd have to put up with their nonsense...

AND, I don't miss his racist comments and attitude even though POB doesn't seem to mind it one bit.

Search alexa.com using the URLs:

beerleg.com
profsurv.com
rpls.com

to see the statistics and details of site traffic that show how each site is functioning in the great internet marketplace of informative entertainment and entertaining information.

Since the sites operate differently, I would wonder if they are comparing apples to apples when rating sites.

Are they counting mouse clicks? Or Mbytes sent & received? Numbers of posts?

Are the website defaults to spitting back all the text & pictures of a previous post (when replying)? This one feature would vastly increase web traffic.

Well, you can check the "Details" button on the alexa.com info for a site. Let's compare the results posted today.

alexa.com reports today that beerleg.com has a one-month average of:

32 daily pageviews per user,
a bounce rate of 4.4%,
an average user daily time on site of 46 minutes.

by contrast, rpls.com has an one-month average of:

7 daily pageviews per user,
a bounce rate of 20%, and
an average user daily time on site of 9.6 minutes.

In other words, beerleg.com performs about five times better in each of those dimensions.

I admit it, I help the numbers over at RPLS somewhat--I like to go to the board administration issues page and see all the bitching about the poor quality of the site.

What is really fun is reading Bingey's rants about beerleg--what a hoot!

In the Grand Scheme of things, does any of this matter? Has the internet actually taken over your lives so much that this is an actual issue in your lives? If it has, y'all really need to shut the computors down for a week or so and get back in touch with reality. This is starting to sound like the little old ladies in the porch rockers out at the home. 😀

Don't you think that MLB probably steered the folks at POB Magazine to their "new, improved" forum for Geospecial Professionals? What else can he say but that things couldn't be better, that only the select five or seven folks are posting on any given day, etc. :>

Geospecial? Are you trying to say that RPLS is some kind of cyberspace short-bus?

😉

DJ,

I just had to go back and take a look at the happenings over there.. in scrolling through MLB's voluminous posts, I'd guess roughly 90%+ are P&R or simply board related. So much for the "higher calling" rhetoric!

Ha Ha Binge, I know you're reading this!

Yeah, it's sad, but not much else is going on over there. I wonder how long he feels he has to wait until he reveals himself over here?

That would be "geospecial needs", wouldn't it?
