Dang Nate.....
> ...but the way I thought it might have been meant was as an impediment to the new rpls site. I mean, a beer leg is something that gets in the way of progress. That and the timing of the beerleg launch at the same time as opening up rpls just gave me that idea.
Honestly, I never even looked at it that way. As I've posted before, a surveying forum has always been a dream of mine... I tried several times and failed before realizing (from feedback over the years) that a "Tupperware Party" was not what most surveyors wanted.
Then when I saw all the comments over the last few months being largely ignored, I saw an opportunity to build something that the people wanted. It may not be perfect, but it does mostly adhere to the older-style of forums while still maintaining a modern core with several modern features. A bit of a hybrid and the best of both worlds.
Seriously, this project is very dear to my heart and it makes me feel good that so many people find it valuable.
Dang Nate.....
or 80s.
Dang Nate.....
I thought you were proud of being able to "Drink others under the table".
Beyond that, I did not know.
But, that's ok.
My name means (Nate) "Gift".
Nathaniel means "Gift of God". So, you got your tripod leg in the way, and I am God's gift to the surveying community!
(Just kidding there!!)
Ha!
Have one on me.... I had NEVER heard of a BEER LEG, as stated above.
🙂
Nate
Dang Nate.....
I like the beerleg name, and would not change it. That being said I can not access the site from work or my work phone.
I'll try the surveyor connect tommorrow and see if it gets blocked.
How ballsy would it have been to name it ArpyEllis.com?
Dang Nate.....
Poor Nate...
I've watched RPLS from Mr. Deal...Surveyor...Surveyor...
POB...Point of Beginning...Surveyor term...Surveyor Surveyor
sat and watched the evolution...GeoSpecial...
cubes...isolated...instead of Surveyor Surveyor...it was what?
The GIS 'boys' in the office started telling me about this great place to share...how they were 'in the know'...POB/GEOSPECIAL.COM
but along came a term I knew...that Surveyor's knew...BEER LEG...Surveyor Surveyor
If I wanted to go some place where 'surveyor' was a bit part...I could find a salad bar...fruity drinks...and have a GIS Cartoon tell me how the 'real world' worked...
If I want to be among Surveyors...well...I would look for a term that Surveyor's knew...like a battle cry...BEER LEG...
I'll drink a beer with you, Nate...even if you don't join me in the toast...
Your Friend,
DDSM
