Will the site upload .mp4 files (video)?
Sadly, I'm afraid if we opened up the doors to allow the upload of .mp4 files, we'd probably fill up the server in no time at all. But if you have the file hosted somewhere, you can wrap the URL in mp4 BBCodes to embed it into a post.
For example:
[mp4] http://someotherwebsite.com/myvideo.mp4 [/mp4]

It appears my website account isn't good for serving video!
Or it could be a problem on my end that I need to fix.
First video file (mp4) I've ever tried to put online from my little website. I may need to adjust the account to handle it. Might not be worth the extra cost to me. I don't really know enough about it all to say what the problem is but it's surely not fast enough. Maybe the video needs to be reduced form the 1928 x 1080 format to make it a lot smaller. Can old dogs learn new tricks?
I watched using Chrome on my phone.
You must've done something right?
Interestingly enough, I was able to come back and see the video on both my phone and PC. However, it kept stopping to load and I suspect maybe it's your hosting account? Not sure but at least we know the embed works.

Yeah, it loads after a while but is un-Godly slow. Try putting it on YouTube. That's where I put all my videos.
Beautiful scenery though. Looks like a great ride. Reminds me of a bunch of pics one of my railroader buddies often posts from Montana.
Was that an old Milwaukee Road line perhaps. Sure looks like that kind of area.

Was able to view film clip on Chrome.
Noticed that it was a 183mb file for a 1 1/2 minute film and the quality was very detailed that made streaming very slow, my internet speed way too slow for streaming that quality
High quality is great for archive files. A lower quality setting would be best for file sharing on phones and computers.
I have to take pics for posting in the PC mode and stay away from HD shots
Really enjoyed the segment :good:
I too would recommend YouTube.

I suspect it is the video format and needs a resizing unless you have really fast internet service. I have DSL. Maybe someone with a Gig or at least 100 Mb could tell us if it runs OK for them. If it doesn't then my web hosting is not capable.
This is the Cumbres & Toltec RR. Runs along the border of New Mexico and Colorado. It's some of what is left of the D&RG narrow gauge. It's a great ride (if you like old steam trains), goes to just over 10,000 feet at the summit. 64 miles and from 10 am to 5 pm from Chama, NM to Antonito, CO. They stop in the middle and serve you lunch.

Not sure I want to expose myself through YouTube!
One thing to consider about YouTube is that there are settings to keep things relatively private and remove your videos from search indexing. I haven't used it for awhile though, so I'd have to revisit it to see exactly how it's done. I just remember uploading videos and they gave the option of making them private or available only to those with the link.
