That's my little buddy Pudder. To make a long story short, we rescued him from a family, that although had good intentions, could not supply his needs. He was beat up ,from being able to run amuck(sp), was under weight and a list of other laundry items. My wife didn't want anything to do with him. This is before we had a son as well.
With a little coaxing, we took him home and our other pug (female) did not get along with him at all. We hammered through this for 3 weeks and were about to list him in a pug adoption when my wife's folks piped up and said they wanted him. They lived 300 miles away at the time. We have a pug extended family so they had a hankering for one as well.
This was back in 2002. He weighed 17lbs when we got him. Pugs (males) should weigh around 20-22. Skip forward to the present...My wife's folk now live about 3 miles away and he now weighs 27.5lbs and is all skin and muscle. He's a lover and a great companion and has no ill will towards anyone.
To this day I think he still remembers who rescued him because whenever we are around he NEVER leaves my side. In fact, we have him here right now because my in-laws are out of town.
He will always hold a special place with me.

P.S. I'm still thinking about changing my avatar.;-)
Pugs are the best, never been around a bad one. My mother in law had one named George C. Wallace for 14 years, and was one of the best dogs I've ever been around. He had a pet box turtle, darndest thing I've ever seen. You'd go into the back yard and ask him, "Where's Buddy?" He'd take off, and a few minutes later return with this humongous box turtle in his mouth. Buddy never seemed to mind, and would eventually wander off to continue whatever he was doing before George C. disturbed him.
Last year my daughter took George C. for his last ride in the Jeep, another of his true joys in life, due to congestive heart failure and advanced bone degeneration. He presently resides under the watchful gaze of St. Frank in the back yard.
