I took a break last night to do some pen-and-ink drawing (something I love to do).
Do I need help?
Maybe take the space out between on line. Looks good though!
Hmmm, good idea.
I did actually struggle with that concept early on because of the double-meaning...
Thanks!
Well now that I look at the drawing maybe it makes more sense like it is. On line being a survey term....and online being computer. Now that I think of it....it looks good as it is.
Do you do pencil dwg's (art that is...not survey maps)?
> Do you do pencil dwg's (art that is...not survey maps)?
Yes. That's how I start. I sketch the outline lightly, then use 4 different sizes of black pens to redraw and hatch it. Then erase the pencil and scan. Sometimes I use Photoshop to color them, like I did several panel cartoons (surveying and non-surveying). It's fun!
I did the artwork for the RPLS Cookbook. *gloat*
GET THAT HAND THINGY OFF THE TRIPOD LEG!, for Pete's sake.
😉
Take care,
Ed
My wife is trying to get me to start drawing again. This is one she reminded me with done while I was in college. I always enjoyed drawing. Told her I just switched to the type of drawing that would make me a little bit of coin.
She insisted I have this one framed
Framing....now thats a way to make much more coin!
The first one is suppose to be a study of an apple. The second was suppose to be my dad's 68' Ford. I guess now you know why I switched to Surveying...:)
Very nice! I understand why she would want that one framed... it's definitely a keeper!
Excellent work
Craig, those are really quite good. You should work on continuing to develop your abilities. There is no need to do just one or the other.
I would recommend that you think about a drawing to be passed out as a holiday card for clients, only larger and suitable for framing. You can always scan a drawing to be plotted on good stock on an inkjet plotters and keep the original, signing and numbering the print to show that it is a limited edition. I'm amazed to find that clients who I gave prints of something along those lines years ago still have them hanging on the wall. Be sure to sign the prints "Craig Davenport, Land Surveyor", or something along those lines and write it off as advertising.

That's exactly what I was thinking... but then realizing that it a 2d drawing, his hand could be like a foot off the tripod towards the viewers eye... Yes, I actually thought about it that much...

Wendell,
If I was going to suggest anything it would be to add a center axis of some sort to the scope. The little worker man looks a little too much like a construction sort looking through a level instead of it being a fully functional transit...
But I also realize that you have now put that symbol on the the tshirts and website and such... Maybe if you have a revisioning/revamping/upgrade at sometime you might keep that in mind.
Carl
Beautiful!! 🙂 :good:
He needs a tool belt and maybe a plumb bob in there somewhere?? He's cute!! 😀

Maybe a little plumb bob under the setup.
😉
Here's my version...
See what you think.

Hey now. Dont be a constracist 😀
Wendell,
What do you think of the idea to place a rod with a prism in the center of the mug?
Or possibly the three bars in the mug with 1-9 like a calculator. Been in the field today with 100° heat. Logged back on to look at the pen and ink and thought I would just say.

I'm absolutely normal... In that I mock those things that I don't know anything about.
