Dave - we visited the City a couple summers ago while visting my wife's family down in Los Altos. Rented bikes downtown and rode across the bridge to Sausalito and then took the ferry back to the SF Ferry Terminal. It was one of the funnist touristy things you could do, but zounds! the walkway across the bridge was crowded. More like an observed trials ride than a bike cruise, waht with weaving through the mass of people.

1320 chains? I think you mean 20 chains :-). The bridge is about 136 chains total with a center span of about 64 chains.
