Anybody have inside information on when USNO astronomical site will come back online? Itƒ??s been down for a year.

I had adapted to the USNOƒ??s ephemeris data format for solar/star positions.

I guess itƒ??s a back burner issue.

Just curious if Iƒ??m missing some news on it.?ÿ

This is just absolutely unbelievable and reeks of incompetence. Why couldn't they have left everything up while they developed the new system.?ÿ

That doesn't work either. If you "Add to Cart" it says they are closed to business.

Larry, Would this be a similar format to what you want?

JPL Horizons is the fall back. Iƒ??ve noted that Horizon returns about 4ƒ? different than USNO, donƒ??t know why, and thst might be insignificant. and Horizon doesnƒ??t include primary navigation stars.

Ive been using USNO for years. For consistency, Iƒ??d prefer USNO. But lifeƒ??s a compromise. And USNO will come back ... in the spring, I assume.

Looks like they closed near the end of October.?ÿ

For the price you used to get a CD with PC and MAC versions, and a nice book which details the instructions and examples.?ÿ Although the book was copyrighted by the publishing company, I'm assuming the program was taxpayer funded.?ÿ

Therefore I'm offering a link to the files as copied off the CD by my PC. Hope it works for you. If you need me to look up something in the manual, send me a message.

It will be a few hours before Dropbox finishes sync because I throttle the update rate - my wife needs most of our DSL bandwidth for work.?ÿ So try this maybe after Tuesday 1800Z (afternoon USA time zones).

@bill93

ill snag that. How big is it?

The other best source UKHO Ephemeris for Land Surveyors. NP-321. But I canƒ??t seem find the 2021 edition. And UKHO only publishes on CD of DVD. Actually NP321 is a wealth of great information. I had current versions of it 2017-2018. But the US vendors I browsed donƒ??t list 2021 in their catalogs.

I have bought a number of things over the years from Willman-Bell, most recently the Astronomical Almanac for 2020. Their web page is still fully up, but it says they are closed for business. I hope there is someone to take their place with the same good stuff.?ÿ

Thanks for putting that together
