I can't get my 2.96 or 3.11 Trimble Business Center on windows 7 to recognise my older Trimble 5700 and 5800 recievers. Does anyone have any ideas?

Trade them in for R10s. Isn't that that the Trimble way?
Did you install your driver cd-rom that comes with the receivers ... in TGO you had to!

What are you hoping to accomplish by connecting to them in TBC?
If you're pulling data files off the receiver, import them to the data collector and pull them off the dc into TBC.
We normally do static post processed. Where we set the reciever up for 2 to 4 hours in wooded areas. They get to be some big files. I think you are right though and we could do that. I'm just stuck in my old ways and don't want to change. But I might have to. I'm still working on a solution. I will let you all know the results. Thanks.
Yes. I did way back when. The problem is I have to change to a windows 7 operating system because of windows xp shutting down. Which means changing computers. So I am starting over with a different version of TBC.
Use the Data Transfer program? That's what we use for all Trimble related transfer of data from field to office. We're also running Win 7.
Yes, I have used before on my old computer. But when I put it on my new computer with windows 7 I have the same problem that I have with TBC it does not recognize the receiver being plugged in?
Reading this reminded me of way back in the day trying to figure out how to get my computer to connect to my old Leica TPS300s.
It was a Windows98 machine. Someone had configured the dial-up connection to pop up every ten seconds when it wasn't connected. No matter what setting I tried it would keep popping up, so one day I went into device manager and disabled the modem. Weird thing is after I did that LSO would find the total station on the COM port. Very odd...
The modem and the Leica were probably both trying to use the same COM port or maybe an IRQ conflict.
I had a similar issue with Win-XP and a Husky. I couldn't get a connection to save my life, but if I went into Device Manager and disabled then re-enabled the COM port everything was fine. I never knew for sure, but I always suspected that some program or process was monitoring the port and keeping legacy devices from being able to use it.
You have installed the Windows Mobile Devicecenter or does it connect in another way?
I had troubles before to get Trimble Data Transfer to work on Win7.
I removed data transfer and did a reinstall, then reinstall your GPS drivers, Data Transfer neds certain files to convert the raw data files.
Not sure if you need the automatic installer TAIM (Trimble Access Installation Manageer) for transferring these files, but it has a part that updates your drivers for your office software (TGO,TBC,Data Transfer, ...)

So far I was able to conect to both the 5700 & 5800 receivers in TBC 3.11 Windows 7 64 bit by using a serial to USB converter. This did not work on another lap top using TBC 2.95 Windows 7 32 bit???? I am still waiting for a phone call from a Trimble rep.
