Is anyone using a SP80 base & rover with SurvCE 5.0? I am recently renting the SP80, plan to purchase, and I figured I could configure the settings myself. Yesterday I configure the base and rover using "Internal XDL" under the RTK tab. Since I was able to run thought the setup and get a fix solution, I figured I was ready to go. After doing a job, the SP80 ran smooth. Went out today to tie into a previous job, but the SP80 shots and previous shots were almost 1ft off. I then set up my total station and ran a backsight about 200ft, ran the SP80 and tied in to the TS shots. I was off .30 tenths. The farther the distance, the more error I get with the SP80. I believe I have a setting wrong. Since my previous job and total station shots are not matching my SP80 shots.

There are several options under the RTK tab, Internal XDL... Pacific PDL, Internal GSM...etc. This may be just a simple setting that needs to be checked or unchecked. If anyone has the same set-up, please help.

?ÿ

Thank You.

I donƒ??t have the same setup but I run surv ce with topcon hiper v and I figured out if ?ÿmy battery dies on my base and I put a new one in ?ÿ If I donƒ??t reconnect everything like I would to start the day when I stake out a couple points they are all off by a couple feet depending how far away they are but if I reconnect everything they will all tie in like they should not sure if this ?ÿhas anything to do with your problem or not

I don't use SurvCE but what fct487 explained above just doesn't sound correct. I use Hiper V base with Magnet. If I change a battery at base, the base coordinate is not effected. I don't have to restart the base. Infact I have contractors in different states using Hiper V's that haven't restarted the base in months. Something wrong in your software, sounds like to me. The base stores the coordinates, but they can be adjusted in the Rover. What if you had 10 rovers connected to that, you certainly can't expect all of them to restart at every battery change. If you are seeing the distance off by 3.8', then it maybe the Geographic Datum is incorrect. Topcon stores the WGS84 Lat/Lon/Ell. Wondering if Carlson is translating that to NAD83. I have seen others do this a lot. This is why Topcon uses NAD_ No_Trans.

I didnƒ??t explain it very Well but if I change my battery it will be fine but if I let my base completely die it will put everything off by a couple feet if I donƒ??t reconnect I talked to Carlson about it they said it was not a software issue it was with topcon that when the battery completely dies it doesnƒ??t remember where it is at so you have to reconnect but I have run it with survey pro and had no problems so Iƒ??m not sure if it is software or gps issue I just always check?ÿ

I don't let my Base die, so not sure. But if Carlson rep was correct, that Topcon can't remember the base coordinate after dead battery, then I would think the base would be much, much more than a few feet off.?ÿ

I believe that on a SP80 the head configuration is stored when the head is turned off.

So, if you push the button and turn the head off, then turn it back on, it will resume with the same base configuration that it had when it was shut down.

But, if one opens the battery doors and removes both batteries while it is on, it can't really save the configuration.

The SP80's don't always shutdown clean when the batteries drain down...

It might be sufficient to set the head up, then immediately turn it off. Then turn it back on. The settings will get saved and it will recover.

I could verify this on Tuesday when I get back to the office.

If you are not a familiar user of Carlson, it is necessary to store the reference position the base unit captures as a separate step, unlike with other software I am familiar with.?ÿ If you are not doing that, it can cause issues when you go back to resume a project.?ÿ That would not account for what appears to be a scaling error but it would make you miss positions mapped off the first setup when you go back and resume with a new autonomous position.

To store the reference position, you go to the Monitor/Skyplot screen and you'll find a button there labeled "Store Ref" as I recall.
