Good evening, I have a query and I hope you can help me with my questions regarding the following:
I have a TRIMBKLE 5700 GPS, and I stopped using it for about a month, last week I decided to check the equipment and the controller does not connect to it.
I have already tried the TSC1, TSC2 and TSCE collector to verify that there is not a unique collector problem, but no, neither recognizes the receiver.
I already verified the cables and I have exchanged other receivers with the antenna of this one to check that it is not another problem that is present.

I hope you can help me with this problem that I have and thus provide me with a solution as to why my 5700 receiver cannot connect with the aforementioned data collectors.

I appreciate your attention, greetings.

Good afternoon, I already reviewed the manual again, and I have reviewed a couple of things referring to it on the Internet, in the same way I have not been able to contact another person who has said cable and I am about to get one on Ebay, in the same way I check the configuration of said receiver and in case even the COM port fails to communicate through the Lemo 7-pin cable, then I will try to get a BT module, to try to connect it that way.

I appreciate your answers regarding this problem that I have.

Good afternoon, I have been trying to connect the trimble 5700 receiver to the computer and the collectors and nothing.
I already changed the receiver to verify that the cables are correct and everything works correctly with them.

Could someone tell me if the problem is internal to the receiver and how can I solve it?

I am open to suggestions that come to me.

Greetings.

I already verified the configuration in the computer, as well as the COM ports and when connecting this receiver, it marks the following:

So you are saying that you connected the computer with the same cable to another receiver successfully? Then the problem is with the receiver. Did you try all three ports on the 5700? Sometimes a pin gets broken off, they are difficult to remove.

If you tried all of the ports, then I believe there is nothing that can be done. Since 5700's are for sale on ebay for a few hundred dollars it is definitely not worth it to fix, just buy another one.

I still have three 5700's and two 4700's, they are great for static surveys, but I never hook a data collector up to them.

It is as you mention it, I already checked the cable with other receivers and they totally connect to the data collector and to the computer through the COM port, I also already exchanged them between the other ports of the receiver and the problem persists.

I think it is an internal problem, but I don't know if you have been through something like this?

I appreciated your answer, greetings.

@eduardo_01 No, I have never had an issue with the 5700's. I did have a keypad front of a 4700 fail, I was able to find one on ebay and installed it and it has worked ever since.

Can you tell me how you use the 5700 receivers without connecting a data collector to it?

Has the firmware been updated? See this article regarding the 5700

https://kb.unavco.org/kb/article/trimble-r7-and-5700-firmware-issue-for-receivers-with-fw-less-than-2-3-844.html

I currently use the 5700 only for static purposes and download the raw observations directly from the receiver using Trimble Data Transfer. Works flawlessly but I did have to go through our local Trimble dealer to have firmware updated.

Good luck.

@williwaw

Good afternoon, I have not updated it because the PC cannot connect through the serial port, I have already checked the cable with another receiver and everything works normally, only this receiver that I mentioned in the post is not detected by the PC in any of the 3 ports that this receiver has.

I do not think it is a problem with the firmware update, because it turns on well, but only the battery LEDs remain on, and the memory, event / radio marker and satellite tracking are off, they do not show any color on their LEDs .

@eduardo_01

We only use data collectors for RTK/VRS/RTX surveys, not for static.

You can just press the log data button on the front (left button, blue). You must have a CF card inserted. But that is not what we do. I setup all of our older receivers (4700, 5700, R8) to automatically start logging data at power-up. This can be done in GPS configurator for the newer receivers (5700 and newer) and configuration toolbox for older receivers like the 4700. On newer receivers (R10, Alloy) I always use the webUI to start and stop sessions. This can be done from my smart phone.

If a receiver is set to auto-start, anytime a data collector is used to run the receiver for an RTK rover survey, for example, the DC will override the power up command and stop logging. But next time it powers up it will auto start again.

And if you cannot connect a cable to download, you can remove the CF card and download directly from that using a card reader, either built in or external.

So when I buy a desktop computer (Dell), I make sure it has serial ports built in and a card reader built in.

@eduardo_01

does the satellite light stay off when it is connected to an antenna that is outside?

That's right, all the LEDs are off, but when connecting the Zephyr and / or Zephyr Geodetic antennas, the satellite tracking led flashes slowly.
The problem still persists in the 3 lemo cable ports.

What do you think about this?

I appreciate your response, regards.
