Maybe too technical but:

For those of you who use tilt, do you crank up your base and your rover from 1hz to maybe 20hz to accommodate for the uncertainty of the location of the sensor at the precise time the shot was recorded??ÿ Or do you find that not necessary?

@hpalmer?ÿ

That's not going to help. In order to get better satellite data they need to move across the orbits, so more data with less travel actually produces poorer solutions.

1 second is the fastest collection we do because the rest just becomes noise.

If you are trying to hold still, I doubt it moves far enough to be a problem in 1 second.

@hpalmer Out of the box, I set an observed control point (120 sec average) with my R12i in base/rover configuration and then staked that same point in topo mode (imu only works with topo or rapid modes).?ÿ Instead of stopping after the typical 3 sec reading, I let it run for about a minute while waving the top of the pole in a giant 3-4 foot diameter circle continuously. The resulting position was within 0.01' of the correct position.

@stephen-ward?ÿ

What kind of IMU drift do you see after a long session say like 6 or 8 hours?

Genuinely curious about the technology and the usage.

@stephen-ward?ÿ

Can you also swing it wildly without dropping to test the theory and stability?

Other than don't drop it, what does the user's guide recommend not doing? (I'll read up on the manual for the evening light before bed story time.... ???? )

Best advice; try some and avoid a lot if speculation

Now now, I'm a surveyor. I measure stuff.

Tell me how it works. Please refrain from "magic".

I'll read up on the manual for the evening light before bed story time....

I also recommend this FAQ in addition to the manual.
