I did a GPS occupation on 8/17 and was hit with a double whammy. My L1/L2 receiver file got deleted by getting the wrong number sequence before shutting down. My fingers acted ahead of my brain. I figured no great loss as I had 2 L1 receivers on other points. I go to NGS CORS to grab 2 hours of data from the closest CORS, LUMT, not available. In fact no data from LUMT for last 3 days.

It will be less work to reobserve than p work with more distant CORS.

Time for bed.

I had a similar experience years back. 3 days in a town 400 miles south of the office. I all but begged the PM to tie a few published marks. The CORS he intended to fix his position with was down the entire time. No position and a quarter of the baselines were nonexistent. ..

Yes, I have run into something similar before.

The NGS monuments are disappearing over time. OPUS is a great tool, but sometimes it is necessary to tie into a physical monument.
