So, I was taught that the external radio/transmitter should be set up at least 10 feet from the receiver.?ÿ Can anyone tell me why this would be important??ÿ I've seen many setups that don't follow that rule and just wondering if my old ways are valid or not.?ÿ Thanks!

Early receivers were more susceptible to radio interference, causing cycle slips (usually on L2). I remember if we keyed our VHF radio close to the antenna it would cause slips on all channels. And I had been to locations where we couldn't even collect good data at all because of nearby transmitters. And places where a cop with radar in line of sight would wipe out the signal as well. If I recall correctly, with Trimble it was the jump from 4000SSE to 4000SSi that greatly reduced the problem.?ÿ
