configuring R10 as hotspot

Somehow I had configured my previous R10 to function as a hotspot. I could connect my laptop to it via wifi and access the internet through the R10. I am not able to remember exactly what I did to get that to work. I have the new R10 sim card working, I can send email messages from it, ftp in/out, access the webUI over the internet, and I can connect my laptop to it. But I cannot browse the internet, I believe it is a routing issue. I set it to be the default route, but there may be more settings to it than just that.
