Says it's new, but the date on the sheet is 2009.

Looks like 11-JUN-08 to me.

Coming across new old stock isn't terribly unusual. A company or public agency orders an item in anticipation of a need that never materializes, and the item sits on a shelf until someone decides they're never going to use it and they're better off selling it. Could be a good deal for someone who needs it.

Yeah, that was a typo on my part. But it says it has Trimble Access on it, which I don't believe was available in 2008. I think that alone costs more than the bids so far.

Early bids are pretty much meaningless -- most savvy bidders use a sniping application that enters their bid in the last few seconds of the auction.

So is Trimble Survey Controller software the same as TDS Survey Pro? If so, how can you tell what options were purchased?

I e-mailed the fellow a few times yesterday. He's clueless as to what he's got. It does not have Survey Pro. According to a picture of the invoice(fourth picture from the left), it has Trimble Survey Controller 12.22. Not too shabby, but I prefer Survey Pro. I might yet bid on this. There'll be a feeding frenzy minutes before the auction ends. I expect it'll go for over $2K.

Survey Pro and Survey Controller are not the same software. I always felt Survey Pro was better/faster, but I felt I could get a lot done with Survey Controller as well.

Right you are: $2337.00. As expected, the winner and runner-up jumped in with 3 and 12 seconds to go, respectively.
