What are the odds this is NOT a scam?

No feedback.
Russian.
Any thoughts?

I would be interested in this total station at the price... But I don't want to get into a battle to get it.

I see that the person is from Russia, but the instrument is supposedly in the US. And not only does the guy have no feedback, but s/he has been an eBay member for less than a month.

Personally, I'm rather leery of buying expensive stuff off eBay.

You could always send a message asking if they speak English and if so would they mind a brief phone call? A brief Q&A would tease out whether or not they knew enough about a total station to seem legit.

There are deals to be had but I agree, this one smells of fish.

I purchased a total station from eBay for what I believe was a "too cheap" price. However, it was from a reputable seller in the US who sells total stations and GPS systems, it came with all associated paperwork including a clean and cal certificate from one month prior to my purchase. The signs were all good on the deal so I did it and I'm happy! You just have to make sure that you check out the seller... If it's a new user, no feedback, nothing else survey related and way too cheap, then it either doesn't exist or it's stolen.
