I am looking for a Topcon BC-10B and BC-19B charger, and also does anyone know of a charger that will charge both BT-23Q & BT-17Q batteries? Also in need for a TDS Recon battery pack & charger combo.

I was given two older Topcon instruments, a GTS-2R and a CTS-1, by a friend who had since upgraded to a newer instrument. When he asked me if I wanted them I could not say no, so now I have two older guns acting as paper weights that I want to at least check out to see if they are working, which he says they were last time he used them. He does not have spare chargers for either of them.

I am quite familiar with Leica gear but am not familiar at all with Topcon stuff but for sake of interest I just have to get this gear going. I see new chargers being sold at a fairly steep (relative) price and thought maybe someone on here has something collecting dust that I'm looking for and would be willing to part with it for a reasonable price.

Jacob,

Sounds like a great deal. Do you have any battery packs at all? I have had pretty good luck with Batteries Plus on getting the existing battery packs re-celled. They were very reasonable as well.

I would look at Hayes Instruments, or your local survey dealer, for the chargers and battery packs. Good luck. Give me a hollar if you decide to unload that equipment. I may know someone interested.

Merry Christmas

Jimmy

Agreed, great deal! Therefore the relative price of a charger seems quite steep.

I do not have any battery packs (power modules) for the Recons, I picked two of those up for next to nothing without the power modules, so I don't even know if they are any good or if any useful software is on there. I'm thinking that probably the best thing for the Recons would be to get new batteries, but should borrow a power module to see if it's worthwhile first though.

Wasn't planning on unloading the equipment but will keep you in mind if I change my mind.

Jacob,

Hayes sells a AA adapter form the Nomad/Recon that you could purchase to test out the Recons. My buddy just bought one and it was around $130. Hayes might even sell you one to check them out, and possibly return it if the Recons end up being messed up. It would definitely be better than buying the whole battery pack deal.

Give them a call, if anyone can help, they can.

Jimmy

I will give them a call, thanks. I thought maybe somebody on here had one of those chargers collecting dust that they would be willing to sell.

Had a chance to test those Recons over the weekend, like I thought neither unit has Survey Pro installed, or any other collection software, but they both work well, same configuration, 400 MHz units. I'm sure Hayes can help with that too!

Any other suggestions on what to install on the Recons? I have strictly used Leica on-board software in the past so this is an area I'm not familiar with again. I would just be looking to use the collectors with these older guns, basic software I think should do.

Did these older Topcon units have on-board data storage? What about on-board software? I have not had any luck finding PDF manuals for either instrument yet. Also, I have not yet been able to test either unit since I have no chargers, yet.

Any information on these instruments would be appreciated, one is a GTS-2R, the other is a CTS-1.

Jacob
