I bought this thru public surplus this spring from Washington state, had some plans to maybe monkey around with it on a project but some things have changed up here so I don't have extra time/inclination for that. Anyway- there were 3 units for sale and I got one of them- I'm pretty sure
one of the others is right here.

I'll take $400 for the set-up your see in the table top picture. That Includes shipping in the lower 48 states and a $25 donation to surveyor connect.

the 2nd and 3rd pics are from an OPUS session I ran out my front door.

Is that absolutely everything I'd need to run Opus sessions, except a tripod and a computer?

How is the data transferred?

Trimble Data Transfer is distributed without charge. I've not tried it with a 4000SST, but it works fine with the later 4000 models.

I have this unit on a trial basis, and am encountering a lot of obstacles. I‰Ûªve posted some questions under GNSS category to attract more attention. See https://surveyorconnect.com/threads/is-trimble-4000sst-model-useful.324013&apos ;">here.

I'd like to help, but I've never laid hands on an SST. I do know that the more modern SSe and SSi units don't have the week rollover problem when using the recommended firmware, and they're available pretty cheap.

It isn't as sweet a deal as I'd hoped, since it doesn't qualify for the GPS on Benchmarks program or work with OPUS-RS, having L2 squaring and no P code. OPUS-S performance with multi-hour sessions is vastly better than a Garmin but still short of what the pros seem to get with modern units.

If anyone is interested in how to use this antique to do OPUS-S, here are my notes on methods.

FWIW, I recently bought a virtually identical system in very clean condition because I wanted the handle battery, antenna case, OSM and cables. I paid $126 shipped.

Just for fun I set up the gear and collected a couple hours of data, but wasn't able to get Data Transfer to connect to the receiver. It sounds like the data is probably gone anyway, because the internal batteries on my unit are also dead.

If you want to get the data, use GPLOAD. Of course, you have to keep the battery on it continuously unless it is on AC. See my notes linked above for the finagling needed to get it to process, what with the week rollover, etc.

I'd be interested to see your data file for comparison of signal-to-noise ratio etc. to this unit. Send to

Yes, that's about the high end of the price range. You see people asking a lot more, but those items aren't necessarily selling. See completed ebay items
http://www.ebay.com/itm/161906073874 $78.11 + 22.48 shipping = $100.59 total
http://www.ebay.com/itm/141821031468&apos ;"> http://www.ebay.com/itm/141821031468 $71.01+33.76 = $104.77 total

Those links are showing up with different shipping prices; I wonder if the shipping is calculated on the fly as if it's going to my address? In any case, the totals come out to $124.82 and $125.55, respectively. My $126 may be at the high end, but not by very darn much!
