Looking for something affordable and intuitive. Printer needs to do 11x17. Saw that some of you had some nice things to say about a brother printer recently but can't find that post.
Here's the link to the thread from a few days ago: [msg]106288[/msg]
Man, you need to check that out quick. The refurbished model was on sale last week for $99. I was issued a credit back to my credit card for the difference between the $149 I paid a week before it went on sale.
Staples had it on their website.
I had very good things to say about the Cannon IPF-610 Plotter. It also did 11x17 and 8.5x14. Never had a problem with it other than it would argue with another driver (one that I did not even have the thing hooked up...I removed the driver for the other one to fix.) Only thing is the print cartridges were a bit pricey....$75 a pop and it took 6.
I sold it to DJ Fenton. Ya may want to email him and ask how it's worked for him. As far a s a printer I have the HP 8500 series. No probs there either. You can get about 1800-2000 prints before having to replace print cartridges.
link not working
I bought one of the refurbished Brother printers that was discussed last week. I haven't used it yet, but it came highly recommended.

so it looks like the brother printer is the one i will go with. unfortunately the sale is over and though i called and spoke to a supervisor they won't give me last week's sale price.
I will be patient wait until Friday to see if it goes on sale again. So I think this is the printer I will want...any plotter recommendations...do you guys lease or buy? Most of my experience is with the KIP plotters but they seem to be a little more than i need.
gotcha...it's working fine now.
I purchased a wide format HP, Officejet 7000. It's capable of 13x19 and prints well! When I purchased this, I received a heck of a deal purchasing it directly from HP. Seems like the cost was over $210, and I got it for about $100. My ordinary use is 11x17 with the occasional need for 12x18. I don't want wifey to find out it is capable of printing large photographs because that paper is expensive.
I had a problem when I replaced the cartridges and the communication between the printer and computer did not indicate that new ink cartridges were installed. I called HP support and they provided new print head and cartridges. It's working great again.... no, I am not being paid for this endorsement!
I recently purchased an Epson Workforce 1100 for $129 online. Seems to be doing a fine print job...ink cartridges are a little pricy but who's are not.
