I have several original instructions for mineral surveys and the public lands that I am offering for sale. I acquired them over the years as part of my research on mineral surveys. I can provide additional photos and sample pages. Either start a conversation here or email me at MS.PLSS.Manuals@comcast.net

I am including with each original mineral survey manual a PDF file scanned in color at 600 dpi.

Instructions to U.S. Deputy Mineral Surveyors for the District of Colorado, 1883, General Land Office (Leather Cover). This manual was owned by Walter H. Wiley, who was one of the two graduates from the Colorado School of Mines in the school‰Ûªs first commencement, June 1883. To my knowledge this is one of only two 1883 Colorado manuals that exist. The other manual is housed in the Mining History Archive at the Colorado School of Mines library. The other manual has a different title, but otherwise, the two manuals are identical (see photos).

Instructions to U.S. Deputy Mineral Surveyors for the District of Colorado, 1886 and 1889, General Land Office (Leather and Paper Covers). These manuals were owned by Walter H. Wiley. These are being sold together as the 1889 manual is glued into the 1886 manual.

Instructions to U.S. Deputy Mineral Surveyors for the District of Colorado, 1886, General Land Office (Leather Cover). This manual was owned by William McCree who was an assayer, U.S. Dep. Mineral Surveyor and Saguache County Surveyor.

Instructions to U.S. Deputy Mineral Surveyors for the District of Colorado, 1893, General Land Office (Leather Cover). This manual was owned by Arthur Hoskin.

Instructions to U.S. Deputy Mineral Surveyors for the District of Montana, 1890, General Land Office (Leather Cover). This manual was owned by N.B. Ringeling, based in the Phillipsburg, MT area.

I also have the following instructions for sale (photos available on request).

Instructions to U.S. Deputy Mineral Surveyors for the District of Utah, 1890, General Land Office, (Leather Cover). Condition issues: the front cover is hanging on by threads; otherwise, no loose pages.

Manual of Instructions for the Survey of the Mineral Lands of the United States, 1895, General Land Office, Printed by General Printing Office, (Leather Cover). Owned by Mr. Spencer a U.S. Dep. Mineral Surveyor based in Nevada. Condition is fair.

Manual of Instructions for the Survey of the Mineral Lands of the United States, 1897, General Land Office, Printed by General Printing Office, (Paper Cover). Condition is fair.

Manual of Instructions for the Survey of the Mineral Lands of the United States, 1909, General Land Office, Printed by General Printing Office, (Hard Cover), (Two copies). Both copies are in good condition.

And these PLSS Manuals.

1881 Manual of Instructions to Surveyors General, (Hard Cover). The condition is essentially NOS with no marks or annotations. Two of the plates have å?‰Û tears at the binding. The gilding of the title on the front cover has ‰ÛÏdimmed‰Û over time.

1930 Manual of Instructions (Hard Cover). The condition is a little rough, but the binding is solid.

1947 Manual of Instructions (Hard Cover). The condition is good.

2009 Manual of Instructions (Hard Cover). I have two copies of this Manual for sale. The first one is signed by Bob Dahl; the second is still in its shrink wrap.

Gene,
I am also interested in all of them.
Used to be licensed in Montana and even did quite a bit of work around Phillipsburg.
Decided to let my Mineral Surveyor Appointment go this last time since they are never going to allow any more of them......

Thanks NS.?ÿ It took a few years to find all of those, plus several at university libraries.?ÿ A Cadastral Surveyor contacted me about the old post, therefore the reason for bringing it to the top.

Several years ago I forwarded PDFs of all of the scans I made to the BLM, which made them available to Cadastral staff via SharePoint.
