My set of Satel #asD radios died and they apparently don't make them anymore. I use them inconjuction with my Topcon Robot 8003. Any suggestions?

I have a set that I will sell.

I have 2 radios, four batteries and four chargers, and the two bags for the tripod and prism poles.

Make me an offer. Email address in my profile is good

I USE BLUE TOOTH WITH MY TOPCON 8003
THE BLUE TOOTH RUNS ON 6 TO 10V A 9V BATTERY ON THE DATA COLLECTOR AND A RADIO SHACK SET OF 4 1.5V BATTERIES. 1.5V LAST LONGER AND THE LEGS CARRY THE WEIGHT. THE UNITES ARE ABOUT 2"X1/2"X1" (NOT MUCH ROOM TO STICK A 9V TO) AND WEIGH ONLY OUNCES. THE LIMITING FACTORS ARE THAT THEY ARE MAID FOR INDOOR 32 DEG. TO 90 DEG. AND NO RAIN, 3-600' IN THE FIELD. WE USE A PLASTIC ZIP LOCK BAG TO KEEP OUT DUST AND RAIN. TOTAL COST UNDER $500.00 PLUS TIME.
CHECK HAYES THEY MADE A SETUP WITH PLASTIC PACKS RADIOS ETC. ALL FOR AROUND $1,000.
THE UNITES CAN BE USED WITH A STANARD GUN DATA COLLECTOR SETUP. YOU CAN MOVE THE DATA COLLECTOR TO THE ROD, AND USE A POINT ONLY GUN OPERATOR.

I would buy a set of Hayes Bantam or Fantam radios, which ever works with your gun. They are rock solid with range out to 1200-1500 ft. Plus the battery lasts all day long (mine actually lasts a week).

I can't recommend the Hayes bantams highly enough. One of the best upgrades to your kit you'll ever make.
I haven't missed walking back to the gun to change the freq on those satels a bit!

Agreed, I use the Fantam with my robot, but their website no longer shows them. I think someone said when Troy left, so did the Bantam/Fantam.

I agree. You will be very pleased.

I am charging my 4 AAs and 9V daily. Am I overdoing it? Is there a better battery setup for this Hayes bluetooth configuration?

I am not sure, BUT I think the radio Hayes sold might be the same as the FieldHawk, those are no longer on the market either 🙁

You could buy the entire FieldHawk business however! Read about it here.

Brad, my Fantam has an internal battery. I think the Bantam did as well. It may be different in models not for robotics and also for other units than topcon. I just spoke with hayes and they indeed are not making the Bantams anymore..I am going to see if I can track Troy down.

My radios are on the way back from Satel via Hayes. The wattage has supposedly been "tweaked" so I will see how they work out. Thanks for all the input. Jimmy and Phillip I may be getting in touch. Thanks.
