I have a Leica TCP1203 that I'm trying to get an Allegro MX to work with properly. The problem is that the TCP1203 doesn't have the required license to accept 3rd party software control.(GeoCOM) I was wondering if someone out there may have a dead robot that is sitting around that I may be able to use a license from, if it is possible in the first place. This robot and data collector thing has had me pulling out my hair this whole month. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Steve,

The TPS1200 has basic GeoCOM commands available that 3rd party software can use without requiring the additional license. The Extended GeoCOM license opens up the motorized functionality and advanced features that make the TPS1200 a full robotic instrument. The Leica part number for the Extended GeoCOM license is Atr. No. 734754 - GeoCOM Robotics License.

It is not possible to transfer any license keys from instrument to instrument because the license key code generated is serial number specific. This applies for the Extended GeoCOM (GeoCOM Robotic license), applications that are not standard, and other extended capabilities.

Also, check to make sure the software you are running on your data collector is licensed for fully robotic. Most of the thrid party data collection software packages also require additional licenses for advanced capabilities.

Maybe you already figured this out, but if not, try registering on Leica's My World site. Add your equipment by entering your instruments equipment number. You will then be able to see any a available license keys for your gun. The extended geocom key is usually there. If not, call your Leica dealer and ask them to get it from Leica. They will often do this for free. Good luck.
