A few months back I sold a complete set of older but still very capable GPS equipment to a surveyor, in Connecticut. The setup had everything he needed to get started with GPS surveying. The set included receivers and antennas, re-celled batteries, cables and software for processing and network adjustment. He only had to provide the computer. With minimal phone support, I was able to get him going (independently) in under two weeks. He mostly uses it now for controlling traverses, getting OPUS solutions and property corner ties which would ordinarily take many hours of traverse and other survey tasks which are only limited by his innovation. I think he will someday move on to RTK and other technology, but in the mean time his investment of about $1500 is easily being paid off. I did warranty the gear for 30 days and did replace one battery cable. Otherwise it has preformed without a hitch.
So, I am wondering if there is a surveyor on the board who has not yet gotten started with GPS and would like a relatively low risk way to get going with his first GPS system. I would like to find someone within a days drive of Kansas City who is interested in adding this to his tool box. That way I can deliver and set up the equipment and provide a day or two of hands on training.
The cost of the system would vary somewhat based on which type of equipment best fits your needs. I have first and second generation dual frequency Z-12s, Z-Surveyors, and even a Promark 500 GNSS network rover with Bluetooth data collector.
Another thought is you guys who survey with Promark single frequency units could add one of my dual frequency setups to do OPUS, etc.
In any event, I could furnish a turnkey two receiver GPS system with software for starting at under $2000. I would need minimum out-of-pocket expenses for delivery and training if that is required.
Email me if this sounds like it could help you out.
BTW, as ever, if this results in a sale it will also result in a proper Surveyor Connect donation.
hi mike, i wish i needed more gear. would have been a good excuse for a road trip. hope all is well out there
Hi Eddie
Things are going just fine. Was looking for some GPS gear myself earlier this year and ended up with way too much. Company I retired from decided to stop offering surveying services and I ended up buying up the survey department gear.
Hope you are staying busy.
Got any equipment that gets GLONASS too?

I just listed This on Ebay. I would sell the system to a Survey Connect member for $4750 plus shipping. It is the only Glonass system I have. If you are solo and in an area with a real time network available, it would be a great setup.
